David Quinlan

Founder and School Director
6th Degree Black Belt

33 Years Training

David Quinlan began martial arts training in 1977, began teaching in 1984. Holds 6th degree Black belt in Kempo-Jujitsu, 2nd degree Black Belt in Arnis, the Filippino art of stick and knife fighting, Honorary Black Belt in Judo, Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, is an instructor of Wing Chun Kung Fu, a style that has no belt ranking system. Opened the Martial Way Self-defense Center in 1988.

He has trained several successful competitors in Mixed Martial Arts, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kick-boxing, and Karate Point-Fighting.

He is a certified personal trainer specializing in combat fitness training.

Sensei Quinlan has dedicated his entire adult life to the study, practice, and teaching, of the Martial Arts. He created Bushintai-Do, a non-violent synthesis of various traditional martial arts skills designed for school-age children, in 2001. He developed the Thinksafe self-defense program, as a means to teach practical self-defense strategies to those unable to commit to long-term training. The founder and head instructor at Martial Way, he still enjoys working with all ages and skill levels.


Drew Bloom

Sensei
6th Degree Black Belt

26 years training

Sensei Bloom began martial arts training with Jiu-Jitsu and tae kwon do in 1984. Started Kempo in 1988. Cross-trained in Judo and Aikdo. Police officer since 1990, adjunct police use-of-force instructor certified in Control and Restraint, Ground fighting, straight baton, side-handle baton, O.C.(pepper spray), firearms, and patrol rifle tactics. Member of criminal justice training council use-of-force committee. Sensei Bloom combines a broad and diverse martial arts background with years of hands-on experience in self-defense, and specializes as an instructor for the advanced adult kempo students.


Dale Billado

Senior Instructor
3rd Degree Black Belt

15 Years Training

Mr. Billado began his martial arts training with boxing in high school golden gloves, then two years of boxing in the US Marine Corps.Trained with Romanian national boxing team. Began training at Martial Way in 1994. Cross-trained in Judo and Jiu-Jitsu. A patient and disciplined instructor, Dale excells at working with ADHD children and others who might have trouble in a group setting.


Howard McGuire

Senior Instructor
3rd Degree Black Belt
Instructor, Non-Lethal Use of Force Defensive Tactics

20 Years Training

Mr. McGuire began martial arts with wrestling in High School. Studied Jiu-Jitsu Wing Chun, and Judo before Joining Martial Way in 1998. Police officer since 2002. Certified instructor for expandable baton. Howard is a versatile instructor who works well with all levels.


Keith Miller

Senior Instructor
3rd Degree Black Belt

24 Years Training

Mr. Miller began martial arts with Judo and wrestling in highschool. Later studied Tae Kwon Do, Hapki-do and Shaolin Kempo before joining Martial Way in 2000. Cross-trained in Modern Arnis (Filippino stick fighting). Police officer for 20 years, 8 of those in New York City. Certified instructor, police non-lethal use-of-force, defensive tactics, straight/expandable baton, O.C. (pepper spray) and ground fighting. US army paratrooper for four years. Combines a traditional martial arts background with unorthodox methods, practical experience, and a sense of humor to teach informative and entertaining classes for all ages and levels.


Daryl Stultz

Senior Instructor
3rd Degree Black Belt

30 Years Training

Mr. Stultz began martial arts with wrestling and Shaolin Kempo in high school. Earned 3rd degree Black Belt in shaolin kempo in 1992 (currently holds 3rd degree with Martial Way). Also studied wing chun and Jiu-jitsu. Daryl was already an accomplished martial artist and experienced instructor when he joined Martial Way in 1994. Since that time he has both broadened and deepened his knowledge and skills.


Karl Ennis

2nd Degree Black Belt

17 Years Training
Brown belt in Judo, cross-trained in Taekwon Do, Wing Chun, Ninjitsu and Trained for two months in China's Shaolin Martial Arts Academy

Trained with martial Way as a Junior and later as a junior adult and finally as an adult. Cross-trained in Judo, TaeKwon Do and Nijitsu. Karl was one of Sensei Quinlan's first students in 1988 and remains one of the most dedicated. He is a patient and knowledgable instructor who works well with all ages and levels of students.


Bob Walker

1st Degree Black Belt

27 Years Training

Began martial arts training in 1976 with Judo.Brown belt in alkido, 1979. Black belt Korean martial arts,1983. Began training at Martial Way, 1993. Police officer for 17 years, level two instructor in police nunchaku, firearms instructor. Former military policeman and paratrooper with 82 Airborne. Bob combines a broad and diverse martial arts background with years of hands-on self-defense experience. He specializes in teaching all levels of adult students.


Kevin Greeley

Instructor
2nd Degree Black Belt

25 Years Training

Began training in 1983. A veteran of many years of cross-training, Kevin holds rank in Okinawan Kempo, Shaolin Kempo, and Taekwon Do, and has cross-trained in Arnis, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and American Kenpo. He is a deicated, versatile and popular instructor. Mr Greeley is the head instructor at the St ALbans location.


John Connors

Instructor
First Degree Black Belt

10 Years Training

Began martial arts training in 1997. Holds rank of 1st degree Black Belt in Arnis (Filippino stick fighting), first degree black belt in Judo. Cross-trained in Jiu-Jitsu. Former US Army Airborne Ranger. John is responsible for teaching the Saturday Kempo and Arnis classes and assisting with Jiu Jitsu classes.


Craig Davis

First Degree Black Belt

10 years training

Began training in Kempo in 1999.  Former US Airforce Security Policeman. Craig runs the Tuesday evening open workout session, and works well with all ages and ability levels.


Darcy Richardson Miller

5 Years Training

Black Belts in Kempo and Arnis.

Darcy is well-respected for her dedication and her skills. She teaches all age groups on Saturdays.


Christine DiBlasio,Ph.D.

2 st Degree Black belt

10 Years Training

She enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels, and has offered the ThinkSafe program for large and small groups in a variety of formats. Christine is also a licensed clinical psychologist and the director of a local private practice serving adolescents and adults. Her self-defense approach blends both her background in martial arts and psychology to provide simple yet effective mental and physical self-defense strategies for women. Her sense of humor, professional approach, and respect for the sensitive nature of this material help her connect with course participants. She is a strong believer in empowering women through knowledge and skills.


Steve Fuchs

AFAA Certified personal trainer

Steve began his training in the martial arts at age 37 and earned his black belt in 4 and a half years. He runs the Friday open workout, and has helped students of all ranks and ages achieve their goals. When he's not in the dojo he produces educational videos and also works as a personal trainer.


Nancy Keller, M.Ed.

Black Belt in Kempo Karate, Blue Belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

8 Years Training

Student of the martial arts since 2002, she holds the rank of Brown Belt in Kempo Karate and Bushintai Do and Yellow Belt in Judo. She has been involved in the ThinkSafe Program for Women program since 2004. Nancy is a National Board Certified middle school teacher who has over 19 years of experience as an educator in the public school system. Most recently, she was an invited presenter at the 2006 Sino-American Teacher Institute in Xiaxi, China. She is known as a warm, patient and encouraging instructor who combines her classroom expertise and martial arts training to help her students grow in self-confidence and independence.


Chris Settino

Instructor
2nd Degree Black Belt

7 Years Training

Began training at Martial Way in early 2002. Earned black belt in 2005. Cross-trained in Jiu-Jitsu, and very active in other athletic pursuits. Chris can usually be found breaking down self-defense techniques in the Open Workout sessions.


Michael Brosnan

15 years training
Red Cross instructor in CPR and First Aid Retired after 26 years in Coast Guard
Earned Black Belt in 2006 at the age of 51.
